HENRY AND JUNE

Fred Ward, Uma Thurman, Maria de Medeiros,

Kevin Spacey, Richard E. Grant

Universal Pictures; Directed by Philip Kaufman

Rated NC-17; 135 minutes; 1990

Anais Nin’s (Maria de Medeiros) almost feverish diary accounts of her affairs with Brooklyn expatriates, author Henry Miller (Fred Ward) and his sultry wife June (Uma Thurman), are brought to life in this erotic drama. Beautifully captures the back alley bistros, bacchanalian street carnivals, smoky bohemian dinner parties, seductive jazz clubs, and hazy early mornings of Paris in the ‘30s.
