Based upon the novel by A.E.W. Mason, this drama is set in 1898. Harry Faversham (Ledger), a British officer resigns his post when he learns that his regiment is to set out for Sudan to engage in a battle with the Mahdi rebels. His friends and fiancée, ashamed of his behavior, send him four white feathers symbolizing cowardice. Harry’s friends do not know his true motive, which is to enter the battle in secret. He must find a way to complete his mission and redeem himself to those who branded him a coward.
