Eisenheim, a magician in turn-of-the-century Vienna, catches the attention of the villainous Crown Prince Leopold who invites him to perform at a gathering. Eisenheim embarrasses the Prince with one of his illusions and when it becomes known that Eisenheim and the Prince’s fiancé were childhood sweethearts, he attempts to discredit and imprison the skilled illusionist in this magical period piece.
